This is one of some 20 something slides I painted for a friend of mind named Mike Hutchinson. He did the original sketches and all I did is digitally paint them.

He is working on this animation called "The Armor of Eidolon" which he showed the trailer of at Otakon a few days ago. He is a true renaissance man, he does all his own music, animation, art, backgrounds, website design, etc.

Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

This is the second piece that I entered into the G vs. E contest.

In the book of Genesis it speaks of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Though many believe it to have been an actual tree which actually bore the forbidden fruit, it is actually a metaphor. Trees in the old testament were often used as metaphors for persons or entities. In this case the Tree was a metaphor for Satan or the serpent. The fruits he bore were lies mingled with truth. On a deeper level the tree actually refers to the tree of the body which is the spine and nervous system, which connects to the brain, which allows consciousness, which allows thought, which then opens the way to choice. The choice between Good and evil, the ultimate opposites or Dualities depending on how you look at it. Some would argue that you can't have one without the other.

My submission into a contest which subject was Good vs. Evil. I had to rush it, but it was pretty fun, discovered some new techniques.

Essentially I wanted to illustrate Satan or Lucifer trying to overthrow God, I figure that is the ultimate g vs e, opposing forces story, so I did my interpretation. It's really more symbolic than anything else, especially the God title molded from stone above "God's" throne. I deliberately turned the "D" around, and it will be interesting to see how many people can guess why.

The word Katabollo in the title of this piece, in Greek means to throw down or cast down, and it is mentioned a number of times in the New Testament as the English word "foundation". It refers to the fall of Satan and the end of the 1st Heaven and Earth age and the beginning of the flesh age.

The basic idea behind the picture though is that Lucifer with all his wisdom searches for a way to kill "God" so that he may take his place. After eons of research he finally happens upon a myth about a weapon which can kill him. He then finds this weapon which is called the serpentine dagger which at that time was the only weapon ever created. He convinces, of course, a third of the host of heaven to follow him, and shows them the hand sign he will use to signal his attack. If he sees his fellow conspirators respond with the same hand sign in assurance and support, which is of course the El Diablo, he will commence with the attack. If no one supports him he will give up his desire for God's throne. In assurance his comrades raise the "El Diablo" and Lucifer proceeds to thrust the dagger into the heart of God. When it is done Lucifer stands before the Livng God whilst he remains sitting on his throne. His blue aura dissipates, he stands, pulls the dagger from his chest, looks upon Lucifer with the greatest disappointment and then walks away as the throne crumbles to dust. Lucifer brought to tears for the first time realizes at that very moment, despite all of his knowledge and wisdom, that the dagger and the story of it's existence was fabricated by the living God himself.

This idea came to me from watching kids at concerts, and I just thought it was funny how they throw up the "El Diablo" so casually, with no conception of what that hand sign really stands for, so I created my own back story for it. Hope you guys like it.

I used Sai for the main paint work, and Photoshop for the effects work.

Below is a portion of the essay I had to write as part of the contest.

"In the beginning there was darkness. Light became the truth. The truth was an illusion.

Without light everything would cease to exist. Everything we know as reality is merely an extension of illumination.

In the image a unicorn type humanoid is beaming a brilliant prism of lights into an alien sky from her horn. The image which she conjures from pure light and thought is the NVIDIA CLAW. The claw itself is not light but is a physical manifestation from her own mind and created from light.

She is able to perform such feats because within the solar system in which her planet resides, there is no sun only massive gas giants, which would make it a planetary system rather than a solar system. She lives on a rocky planet and on it everything emits its own light even the atmosphere. In this type of ecosystem beings developed different ways of communicating, for light is synonymous with thought. To them Light is thought and thought is light and nothing is impossible. One is only limited by their imagination."

First and foremost I would like to say this shit took me a long time, and I'm glad I'm finished. Its a character named Byzantine, from a comic book that myself and two of my buddies are working on called The Suicide Kingz. Essentially Byzantine represents Malcom X in the story ergo the red hair and the self defense mentality. The idea for this piece came from Malcom X's famous line from one of his speeches. " By any mens necessary" The mist in the background actually represents an element in the story called the ether, which is a mist that envelopes an individual and reveals to them truth, and its up to the individual wheather or not they accept that truth. Keep on the look out for our book next year, and my boy Cipha (the main artist) should have some pieces to show pretty soon too.

THE METAGAIA

I've been working on this one off and on for the past year and a half now for a graphic novel / art book that is slowly but surely working its way into being. I'm still not satisfied with the piece, but I figure a year and a half is long enough.

The Characters' name is The Metagaia, and one of her abilities is to amplify light through the alien chlorophyl in her body and expel it as plasma at varying heats, varying concussive force, or a combo of the two. The manipulation of such allows her to amiably grow exotic plant life or destory entire planets depending on her whim and how much light she absorbs. Given her gentle nature and respect for life she prefers the former rather than the latter unless provoked.

Update_This is another character I'm workiing on named Metagaia for my artbook/graphic novel. She basically is a plant born from 4 huge trees called sacraments on a planet called Organiss. The sacraments are so massive they reach into the atmosphere of the planet, and when their leaves shed and fall to the ground they cover entire cities. Metagaia is the combined force of all four sacraments in one entity, she has a myriad of powers one of which is to blend in with her surroundings as pictured in the above painting. *** OBAMA! Yeah, I said it. *** OBAMA! I know to many of you Obamanoids out there it makes you upset, but please don't mistake my rather curt opinion for ignorance, it is indeed quite the opposite. It is my months of study on the man and his rise to power, his policies, and my never ending battle and frustration with trying to communicate to Obamanoid's about the man and more importantly the powers behind the man. It is indeed the Obamanoid's ignorance which has lead months of study to my immediate agitation in the form of the afore mentioned four letter expletive followed by that bastards name. Or is it his name? He has so many. Perhaps we should just start calling him Barry.

To tell you the truth it's not even Obama whom I frustrated with. He is a politician, and I didn't really expect him to actually live up to any of my expectations. My contravention is with all of my peers and family members, people who I've looked up to, have learned from, and in some cases even idolized. It's those people who have fallen into this dialectic, this matrix which has filled me with great despair, and a cynicism that has almost made me bitter towards everyone. It's those people who I'm disappointed with the most. A very wise man whose life we just celebrated once said. ".... There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love� This rings so true to me, it's so profound yet so simple. He had a way with words that just seem to strike at the very soul, but lets not digress. It is my great love for my people not just blacks but all Americans why I have taken the stance I have taken. It is my great love for the constitution why I have adopted some of the views that I have. It is my great love for truth why I will continue to speak out and if necessary fight and die if need be, because with all honesty that is what it will come to. I know those of you who are actually taking the time to read this journal are probably scoffing right now, but mark my words there is a wall of tyranny rising in America that has been rising for some time now, and that tyranny will not rise unchallenged, for true freethinkers, true libertarians, true patriots, true constitutionalist, true Christians, true Muslims, true Jews, and true humanist, will stand up, fight, and die to live free and independent, and I just hope that those who are mesmerized in the Obamanoid spell will awaken before its too late.

1.An Obamanoid is a human being who has acquiesced their logical and reasoning capabilities to mindless worship of the President Elect soon to be President of the United States. There Cult like love for him is not dismayed even when confronted with incontrovertible evidence. They are very similar to Bushites whom worshiped Bush no matter how much wrong doing he committed or how many laws he broke.

2.An Obamanoid is anyone when confronted with the question. What policies that Obama believes in and have supported in his former political careers might be good for the country? If they answer � Well he is for Hope and Change.� well that person is definitely an Obamanoid.

3.An Obamanoid is anyone who actually believes Obama will bring Hope or Change.

4.An Obamanoid is anyone who believes that Obama will give us free Health Care. A word of wisdom. NOTHING IS FREE! Not even air, if Obama has his way. Google the �Carbon Tax�

5.An Obamanoid is anyone who says that he will pull the troops out of Iraq. Um, even if he does he wants to send them to Afghanistan which is just another unjust unconstitutional war where innocents are dying needlessly. War is War, what difference does it make if he simply diverts the troops to Afghanistan, Pakistan , or Iran. We are still in the situation.

6.An Obamanoid is anyone who implies that if you are not for Obama then you are a racist, when you've never been a racist in your whole life, and especially if the person being called a racist is black.

7.An Obamanoid is anyone who says, �Well yeah its going to be rough his fist term, he (Obama) has to first fix all of Bushe's mistakes.� Um, he is keeping many Bush appointees on, and many of his own appointees are just as hawkish as Bush appointees if not more so. Rham Immanuel comes to mind.

8.An Obamanoid is anyone who says that Obamas youth core or environment squad is a good idea. You are simply nuts. This is the type of *** Stalin and Hitler would do with there secret police and youth brigades.

9.An Obamanoid is anyone who says �So what if Zbigniew Brzezinski is one of his most valued advisors.� Ahhh, this fucker is for forced sterilization of third world populaces, especially Africa, and he is even for Eugenics programs in America.

Sonic Alchemy _ Throne of Rahab

This is the first illustration I did for a character I created dubbed Rahab the Harlot. I actually did it for an illustration class 4 years ago while in school, and I liked the character so much I've created a story for it called Sonic Alchemy which will be a Rock Opera.

It is mostly done traditionally using Prisma Color Marker, Pencils, and water colors. I scanned it and added light effects, and photo effects in photoshop with a little touch up paint work to the skin and hair. Although there are some technical issues with this particular image, its one of my personal faves.

SUPERPOWER: She has the strength of a 30 year old male body builder. This strength is stored as chi in her...well its stored in here incredibly large glutes. When the dragon is fully released i.e. when her anger is kindled, she can become as strong as three 30 year old male body builders.

THE DAWN OF OBLIVION

This is the Same character Synthi from my Graphic Novel / Artbook which is about a huminoid alien woman born in a large vat of oily black liquid in a far of universe. Essentially the liquid is the dark matter of the universe or what becomes of matter after its been sucked in a black hole. Her very essence is made of this substance. She is completely void of civilized intelligence because she was born on a savage planet inhabited by dark creatures called Zophos. When she is first born she befriends a baby wyvern a very rare dragon like creature in this universe. Its her only companion.
like the incredible hulk she is a creature of pure emotion. So the book won't have any words every thing will be expressed. She can summon balck holes through the black markings on her skin and absorb all the light in her immediate vicinity and repel it as cosmic energy or super dense light.

I tried to illustrate he birth in thise scene. She simply rises from the stygian depths of the unknown. When she first glances upon her fathers (the Zophos) standing around the vat, a perpetual grin molds her visage as she slaughters every one of them.
